We are a nation of animal lovers, in fact, 59% of households in the UK have a pet (According to PDSA). But what happens when you own pets and decide to sell your home?
In this short blog, we share with you our top 3 tips on how you can make the most of selling your property, maximising the value and sell in a good timescale whilst managing your pets?
So what should you do to sell your home when you have pets?
1. Prepare for viewings in advance - In an ideal world, It’s best not to have your pets around for the viewings if possible. If you have dogs, the best thing would be to arrange for them to be out of the way for the viewing appointments. Maybe consider finding a local dog walker that can take them out when viewings are taking place.
2. Remove pet smells - Freshen up the property before the viewing appointment, on warmer days open the windows at least 30 minutes before the viewers arrive. Perhaps use some air fresheners or scented candles to give a particular scent to the home.
3. Bedding, toys and bowls – Remove anything associated with your pet, like water and food bowls, bedding, litter trays and toys from view of buyers. They are not a feature of the property and will certainly not impress buyer.
The last thing you want is a potential buyer saying they loved your house, but didn't like the dogs or cats or they thought that there was a slight smell to the property, so they're not going to move forwards in making an offer.
